Dionisios Solomos Square is the city's central and largest square, where numerous religious and cultural events and festivities take place. Solomos Square with the D.Solomos statue, the most important Square of Greece, dedicated to Dionysios Solomos Greece's national poet who wrote the National Anthem of Greece. Here you can take unique photos with the background of Saint Nicholas of Molos Church and the Byzantine Museum. 

Tip: In a short walking distance from Solomos Square you will enjoy the Fragrant nougat-"Madolato". You cannot leave the island without trying or taking with you the Mantolato (nougat and roasted almonds). During the Venetian occupation, mantolato was the favourite sweet of the aristocracy.

Here you will admire the unique architecture of St. Marcus square, the“Mausoleum of Solomos, Kalvos and eminent Zakynthians” which is the most important building of the square, the traditional clock and the only Catholic Church of the island located on this square. 

The church of St. Nicholas (Agios Nicholaos) of Molos in Zakynthos town is a Venetian-style building, the only one to have survived the devastating earthquake and fire of 1953. It was built in 1561 by sailors. Inside the church, the pontifical vestments of Saint Dionisios are kept, as a tribute to the relation of the Saint with this church.

In Bochali Hill you will take in the panoramic view of Zante town. Here you will take the chance to admire the beautiful Zante town under sunlight. You can have a seat in the little cafes and treat yourself to a traditional Zakynthian sweet called "Frigania". On the Bochali square, the Panagia Chrysopigi Church's bell tower stands alone. It is especially worth a visit in the evening when the setting sun swims in the horizon in shades of orange and pink and the city lights city come on, you will enjoy breathtaking views of Zakynthos' skyline, Solomos Square under the night lights, Saint Nicholas of the Mole that is one of the more ancient churches of the island and the glorious lights of the Church of Saint Dionysios
